Jambro goes Global!

Jambro makes it amongst the top 10 startups in South East Asia.

Jambro, a music startup on a mission to bring the global music community together on one platform, has been selected as the top 10 startup in South East Asia by muru-D – a Telstra backed and one of Singapore’s most prestigious startup accelerators – just a few months after its’ pilot launch in Pakistan.

More than 500 startups from the region were explored by muru-D over a 2 month recruitment drive earlier this year. After making it to top 22 – the Jambro team was invited to a two day boot-camp, where startups worked with mentors and pitched to compete for a spot in muru-D’s accelerator program in Singapore.

The top 10 startups were announced following this boot camp, and as of October 1st 2017 – Jambro is officially part of their third cohort, and operating out of Singapore as a private limited company. The startup had already raised seed funding prior to this, and will further benefit from an investment of over USD $50,000 by muru-D.

Jambro is a movement to connect, enable and empower the global music community with its flagship app; officially launched in November 2017. What initially started off as a “match maker” for musicians, allowing them to discover and connect with other like-minded musicians, Jambro is now evolving to cater to both musicians and music enthusiasts on one common purpose – which is to bring back the musicality in music. The Jambro app will allow musicians to build their portfolio, discover & connect with musicians from around the world, find & book jam spaces, book & host music events, and directly engage & share their music with fans and music enthusiasts.

Currently, Jambro showcases upcoming gigs, jam spaces and ‘jams on cam’ from a global musician community on its’ website and social media pages. On ground, Jambro partners with local jam spaces, studios and performance venues to host music events – and is on track to host its first major Jambro festival in Singapore in 2018.

muru-D Singapore head Paul Meyers said: “Selecting the top 10 companies for this year’s cohort was a difficult process, which speaks to the overall quality of startup talent across the region. We are excited at the prospect of working with these diverse teams by providing them with the tools required to solve the world’s most challenging problems.”

Julie Trell – Head of muru-D, judge, and mentor at Singapore’s bootcamp said: “We’ve seen very promising talent from across the region during the bootcamp, which is testament to the regional startup ecosystem’s healthy growth trajectory. The passion, energy and potential I’ve seen has been inspiring. We’re excited to help these startups grow into sustainable global businesses solving big challenges.”

Over the next 6 months – Jambro will focus on maximizing its’ impact in Singapore and Pakistan by bringing musicians together on its platform, and organizing events in partnership with local jam spaces, studios and performance venues. In the following 18-24 months, Jambro will expand its footprint to other ASEAN countries and the MENA region. By 2022, Jambro aims to establish itself as the largest community of musicians from around the world.

With backing from muru-D and access to world class mentors from the Silicon Valley of Asia, Jambro is all set to penetrate the global market with its new global app available on the App Store for iOS users from November 1st 2017 and Jambro for Android coming out later this month.
